Guidelines for Rescue Centres

Depending on age, as a stopgap, and for rehydrating kits, liquid in the form of water mixed with Critical Care should be given with a pipette and  offered at body temperature. Care must be taken not to get any liquid into the nose or lungs of newborns as this can quickly cause  pneumonia or even sudden death.

After rehydration, and for slightly older kits, Esbilac (puppy milk replacer), or Cimicat (kitten milk) can be used mixed 1 part powder to 1 part lukewarm water. Kits between about 2 -4 weeks old will take the above and also small pieces of cat food.

Temperature is important and it is recomended that when raising kits of either weasels or stoats the following guidelines are used: CLICK HERE
